Rodd Suspended for Careless Riding

Racing Victoria stewards have decided to suspend jockey Micheal Rodd after finding him guilty of careless riding. The jockey has been handed an eight meeting suspension. Fortunately for Rodd, he won’t be missing the Caulfield Guineas day as his suspension began at midnight Saturday and thus he will be free to attend the race on 11th October.

Rodd was found guilty of careless ride aboard Atlanta Dream in race eight at Bendigo on Thursday. Stewards discovered that Rodd had caused interference to the winning horse Arikara around the 1100 mark, where the jockey shifted in and checked the winner.

However, the stewards considered that the interference wasn’t too severe, and thus suspended Rodd for only seven meetings.

Rodd will be riding the favorite horse, Rich Enuff for the $1 million Caulfield Guineas.
