Expert bookmakers belonging to our affiliate partners are here to give you some handy tips on Saturday’s races. Here is this week’s weekend racing tips.
Jason Scott from Ladbrokes.com.au

He was very good in the Goodwood at Morphettville. The extra 150
meters will only help and if he gets cover from his wide draw he will be
the one to hold off late.
BEST – STRAWBERRY BOY – RACE 3 No. 1 [Brisbane]
Was dominant after working early in a WFA race over the same course
and distance a fortnight ago. He is well suited by the conditions of this
race, should lead and win.
VALUE – SADLER’S LAKE – RACE 7 No. 3 [Brisbane]
Drew wide, worked hard to find the lead and was terrorized throughout
in the Grand Prix by some woeful rides. Had no luck with the draw
again but double figure odds are currently available and it is attractive.
LAY – WERTHER– RACE 7 No. 1 [Brisbane]
I’m dubious about the quality of older horses he beat last week. He is
poisonous odds at his current $2.70 quote and we are happy to run up
a big liability against his name.
The stable are spruiking that this import is a spring horse and punters
have latched on. We laid $10 to a well-connected client and he has
been supported all the way in to half its opening quote.

Steve Boukaram from Bet365

Sticking with the Kiwi visitor, as does Zac Purton, after having a few
things go against him in the Doomben 10,000. Drawn to get an ideal
run and see no reason why he can’t figure in the finish.
BEST – WERTHER – RACE 7 No. 1 [Brisbane]
Beat the older horses here last week so it can only help dropping back
against his own age at set weights. Has drawn ideally in barrier 1 and
Jim Byrne should be able to get the perfect trail throughout.
VALUE – SAGARONNE – RACE 6 No.11 [Brisbane]
Has returned in great form for astute trainer Toby Edmonds. Won her
maiden before running on strongly in winning a Listed race here last
week which suggests the step up to the mile will be ideal.
LAY – YESTERDAY’S SONGS – RACE 6 No. 6 [Melbourne]
Big drop in class from the Group I Goodwood last start. Steps up from
the sprint trips to the 1500m which suits its style of racing but has no
option but to go back in a big field & is going to need plenty of luck.
BACKED – FLIPPANT – RACE 2 No. 3 [Brisbane]
Led throughout when winning last start and punters were more than
impressed. Our opening price of $2.50 was snapped up straight away
& continual support sees her a dominant $1.95 favourite.

Daniel Bevan from Betfair

STRADDIE – CHARLIE BOY – RACE 8 No. 8 [Brisbane]
He’s turned the corner since joining the all-conquering Snowden
stable. Huge run in the Doomben 10,000 and the drop to 54kg under
Craig Williams makes his current $9 look very appealing.
BEST – ACT OF VALOUR – RACE 2 No. 2 [Melbourne]
Ran strongly through the line when winning his last start stepping up to
the 1500 metres. Gets in 1.5kg off the limit here and only needs to
repeat his last rating to easily deal with these.
VALUE – TOOLEYBUC KID – RACE 7 No. 2 [Melbourne]
Pakenham Cup winner and doesn’t know how to run a bad race. A
close-up third in the Magicool race last followed a solid fourth in the
Warrnambool Cup. Right in this race on either of those runs.
LAY – KAEPERNICK – RACE 1 No. 12 [Brisbane]
Green last start and the run didn’t scream ‘take me to Brisbane to run
against older horses’. Exchange punters have been happy to take
between $3 and $3.40 but I’m happy to lay him at least to $4.
BACKED – WERTHER – RACE 7 No. 1 [Brisbane]
This Derby hasn’t historically taken high-class horses to win, but this
bloke beat some reasonable animals at WFA well last start and has
been backed from $2.67 to $2.42 to get it done against his own age.
