2014 Thousand Guineas Preview: Lumosty Leading the Punter’s Odds

Caulfield racingThe Robert Smeldon trained Lumosty has been tipped by punters to win tomorrow’s Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield. The local horse has been put by Ladbrokes at $4, while BetEasy has put it at $3.90.

Racing pundit Daniel O’Sullivan opined that Lumosty was definitely worth the money for tomorrow’s event. “She is the one that comes into this race more on an upward spiral than any other horse in the event,” said O’Sullivan

“I think that her price is completely fair and if you happen to get much better than that on the day then she is certainly a worthy bet,” he added.

Second favorite on the punter’s table is the Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas trained Go Indy Go. The horse has been put at $4.80, while BetEasy has put it at $4.80. MacDonald was of the view that the horse was one of the best, he had ever trained. “If this filly could win and then win the Oaks, that would be three Group 1s in her first season; not many horses do that,” said MacDonald.
“She’s still got to do it though, she might still have one at the end of it all; we’ll find out,” he added.

The David Hayes and Tom Dabernig trained Afleet Spirit has emerged slightly behind Go Indy Go to stay third in the punters’ table at $5. Fourth in the table is the Peter Moody trained Bring Me The Maid, rated at $7.

It will indeed be an exciting day at Caulfield and Races Australia will have all the action from the Guineas Day covered for you.
